Aesica was also runner up in the Company of the Year 2006 Award and the Manufacturing Award. Aesica will now go forward to represent Tyneside and Northumberland in the North East Business Awards Regional Final, the results of which will be announced in May 2007.
Aesica was presented with the Environment award for its outstanding performance in environmental management. The Award is sponsored and judged by Northumbrian Water.
Pam Crooks, Aesica's Environmental and Safety Manager commented, "Protection of the environment and active involvement in the community have always been important parts of our business at Aesica. We have a progressive environmental policy developed to specifically reduce the company's environmental impact. Some of the work we have undertaken in 2006 includes; the installation of an on-site wind mast as the first step in our plans for a renewable energy project; plans to install two wind turbines in order to generate our own electricity; and our work in partnership with Cramlington Organisation for Nature and Environment (CONE) to assist with ecological evaluation of the site and identifying opportunities for improvement such as by building a swallow barn and planting native species of flora and fauna."
