Dr Robert Hardy (BSc, PhD),
Chief Executive Officer
Robert Hardy led the management team which founded Aesica through the MBO of BASF's UK API business at Cramlington in August 2004. He has more than 20 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry. In 1983, he joined the BASF UK pharmaceutical manufacturing business when it was part of the Boots Company PLC. Robert has a BSc (Hons) and PhD from the University of Nottingham.
Adam Sims (BEng, ACA),
Chief Financial Officer
Adam Sims has been CFO of Aesica since the MBO of BASF's UK API business at Cramlington in 2004. Adam qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG in 1991, working for KPMG in London and San Francisco. Before joining Aesica, Adam had a variety of roles within BASF, most recently CFO of BASF (Northern Europe).
Anthony Higham (MSc, BSc (Hons)),
Operations Director
Anthony Higham joined Aesica in 2008 from GlaxoSmithKline where he was a Divisional Technical Head within Global Manufacturing & Supply. Anthony has more than 20 years global experience in the pharmaceutical industry and previously held the positions of Director, Performance Management - Operational Excellence at GSK and Director, Sourcing and Portfolio Management at SmithKline Beecham.
Chris Gowland (BSc),
Quality Director
Chris Gowland was part of the management team that founded Aesica via the MBO of BASF's UK API business at Cramlington in August 2004. His career in pharmaceutical manufacturing began in 1992, with Boots Company PLC, and he transferred to the BASF Cramlington facility in 2000. Chris has a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
John McConnell (Fellow of CIPD, BA (Hons)),
Human Resources Director
John McConnell joined Aesica in 2006 as HR Director from Aker Kvaerner where he was HR Director of the Engineering Services business. He also worked in the chemical industry for eight years with Elementis plc as the global HR director of the Chromium Division and prior to that he was head of HR for BASF in the UK. John has also held senior HR positions in the pharmaceutical and utility sectors.
Keith Payne (BSc),
Sales and Marketing Director
Keith Payne joined Aesica in 2007 and became Sales and Marketing Director in July 2008. Prior to joining Aesica, Keith was Senior Vice President, Product Development Services at NextPharma and was previously Commercial Director (Asia and ROW) for Clariant Life Science Molecules (formerly Archimica Fine Chemicals). Keith graduated with a degree in Chemistry from Leicester University.
