Dr Robert Hardy (BSc, PhD),
Chief Executive Officer
Robert Hardy led the management team which founded Aesica through the MBO of BASF's UK API business at Cramlington in August 2004. He has more than 20 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry. In 1983, he joined the BASF UK pharmaceutical manufacturing business when it was part of the Boots Company PLC. Robert has a BSc (Hons) and PhD from the University of Nottingham.
Adam Sims (BEng, ACA),
Commercial Director
Adam Sims has taken up the role of Commercial Director at Aesica in early 2009, after his previous appointment as the CFO of the company since the management buyout of BASF's UK API business at Cramlington in 2004. Before joining Aesica, Adam had a variety of roles in finance and general management principally with BASF and Norsk Hydro.
Chris Gowland (BSc),
Technical Director
Chris Gowland was part of the management team that founded Aesica via the MBO of BASF's UK API business at Cramlington in August 2004. His career in pharmaceutical manufacturing began in 1992, with Boots Company PLC, and he transferred to the BASF Cramlington facility in 2000. Chris has a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
John McConnell (Fellow of CIPD, BA (Hons)),
Human Resources Director
John McConnell joined Aesica in 2006 as HR Director from Aker Kvaerner where he was HR Director of the Engineering Services business. He also worked in the chemical industry for eight years with Elementis plc as the global HR director of the Chromium Division and prior to that he was head of HR for BASF in the UK. John has also held senior HR positions in the pharmaceutical and utility sectors.
Nick Jones (ACA),
Chief Financial Officer
Nick joined Aesica in 2009. Previously Nick worked as a Corporate Finance Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Manchester where he advised clients on a wide variety of Merger & Acquisition transactions. Nick holds a Chartered Accountancy qualification having trained with PwC in Newcastle upon Tyne.
