Chris Gowland – Corporate Manufacturing and Compliance Director

Professional:
Chris has over 18 years in the pharmaceutical industry, starting work with the Boots Company PLC in 1992. He joined Boots as an analytical chemist, testing formulations of new chemical entities whilst they were in development.
Based at Nottingham Chris continued to work in Analytical Chemistry, supporting clinical trial and technical transfer projects, until he transferred to Cramlington in 2000 to work as the Site Quality Manager. As a key member of the site management team he worked with Robert Hardy to complete a management buy-out in 2004 and form Aesica as a new company. Since working for Aesica Chris has held several key roles on the Executive Team and has been a key player during the acquisition and integration program.
Qualifications:
- BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from Newcastle University.
At Aesica:
- Chris was a member of the management team, which founded Aesica through the management buyout of BASF’s UK API business at Cramlington in 2004.
- His current role focuses on business improvement across the Aesica network, developing a robust IT platform, continuous improvement in manufacturing and robust health and safety policies and standards.
