Dr. Robert Hardy – Chief Executive Officer

Professional:
Robert has over 25 years experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. He commenced working life with The Boots Company as a Development Chemist, before joining the Development and Production Management team working across the UK and abroad.
When Boots Pharma was taken over by BASF, Robert’s role took him to Cramlington where he became Site Director. In 2004 BASF decided to sell the pharma division including the Cramlington site. Following advice and support from various bodies in the North East, Robert successfully acquired the site at Cramlington and Aesica was established. Since its inception in 2004 Aesica has quadrupled in size and Robert plans to increase turnover to £300 million by 2013.
Qualifications:
- PhD from the University of Nottingham.
- Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
At Aesica:
- Robert led the management team, which founded Aesica through the management buyout of BASF’s UK API business at Cramlington in 2004.
- He is the CEO and Board Director of Aesica Pharmaceuticals Ltd a global company with annual turnover of approximately £180m.
